When you think of Bali, your mind might conjure up images of serene beaches and lush rice terraces. But beyond the breathtaking scenery, there are some attractions that absolutely cannot be overlooked. One such gem is the GWK Cultural Park.
Why GWK Cultural Park Should Be on Your Bali Itinerary
Nestled near Uluwatu in the beautiful Bukit Peninsula, GWK Cultural Park is just a stone’s throw from popular resorts like Nusa Dua, Jimbaran, Kutuh, and Ungasan. During my visit with my family last summer, we discovered not just a park but a canvas of culture and artistry that captivated us all. It truly made for a fantastic family day out!
Exciting New Show Launching Soon
GWK Cultural Park has a reputation for putting on spectacular shows, especially during the New Year holidays. This year, they’re gearing up for something truly special! Starting on December 21, 2024, the park will unveil a new show titled “Bararong,” which promises to enchant both tourists and locals.
What to Expect From the ‘Bararong’ Show
This exciting new performance will take place at the GWK Amphitheater and will cost only IDR 100,000 per person. Combining the fiery kecak dance with the enchanting barong performance, “Bararong” is the embodiment of Balinese culture at its finest.
The Head of Marketing Communication at GWK Cultural Park, Andre Prawiradisastra, shared insights on the show’s development. “Based on tourist feedback, we decided to create a fusion of Kecak and Barong, attracting visitors with both traditional arts and fresh interpretations,” he explained. This commitment to marrying tradition with modern creativity is something that I found especially appealing during my own visit.
The plot revolves around Prince Bara, the crown prince of the Bahali Windhu Kencana Kingdom, who must unite three Barong figures to restore peace in his land. Imagine watching over 30 performers bring this story to life—each dance filled with the color, energy, and vibrancy that Bali is famous for.
Planning Your Visit
Tickets for the “Bararong” show will be available alongside the general entry ticket for GWK Cultural Park. While those attending only the show will pay IDR 100,000, guests with a full-day ticket can enjoy the show for just IDR 50,000. It’s an excellent way to enjoy both the park and an incredible performance!
Shows will run every Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday starting at 7 PM. The amphitheater can seat up to 800 people, but the park aims to create an intimate setting with targeted audiences of around 200-250 per performance. As someone who appreciates engaging performances, I highly recommend planning your visit around this captivating show.
Celebrate New Year at GWK Cultural Park

Trust me, the city lights with fireworks against the Balinese backdrop will be unforgettable!
Tickets for both the general entry and the NYE Countdown can be purchased online, and it’s best to book in advance. Given the park’s popularity during the festive season, tickets are expected to sell out quickly. Make certain to secure your spot ahead of time!
