Traveling to and from the stunning island of Bali is about to become more convenient and budget-friendly than ever before! Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport recently announced the addition of at least 14 new flight routes set to launch in 2025.

Unlocking New Opportunities for Tourists

This exciting expansion of international and domestic flight services opens up a world of travel possibilities for tourists eager to explore Bali and beyond.

What the Experts Are Saying

During a press briefing, Faik Fahmi, the President Director of Injourney Airport, shared his vision: “The addition of these routes is a pivotal strategy aimed at enhancing air connectivity while supporting the growth of the tourism and economic sectors in Bali and throughout Indonesia.” This is music to the ears of travel enthusiasts like myself, who are always looking for new adventures!

Direct Connections to Vibrant Destinations

Fahmi revealed that the new international routes will connect Bali with exciting destinations such as Bangalore, India; Canberra, Australia; Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates; Moscow, Russia; Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia; Phuket, Thailand; Busan, South Korea; and Shanghai, China. Imagine hopping on a direct flight to these fascinating cities—what a dream!

Domestic Routes Expanding Within Indonesia

The new domestic routes are just as enticing, with connections to Sorong in Papua, Lampung in South Sumatra, Berau East Kalimantan, Sumbawa in West Nusa Tenggara, Palembang in South Sumatra, and Pontianak in West Kalimantan. This growth means Bali can serve as a perfect launchpad for tourists eager to dive into the richness of Indonesia’s culture and world-class hospitality.

Record-Breaking Growth Ahead

Currently, I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport serves 65 flight routes, including 25 domestic and 40 international connections. With the new additions, this number will rise to an impressive 79 flights! This is a clear indication that Bali is positioning itself to welcome even more travelers in the years to come.

Fahmi has high hopes, stating, “With the increase in flight routes and better slot arrangements, we expect passenger capacity to grow by over 22 percent in 2025.” As someone who regularly travels to Bali, I can’t wait to see how this growth influences the overall travel experience.

Improving the Airport Experience

Ahmad Syaugi Shahab, the General Manager of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, has also brought to light the operational status of new routes, including the Bangalore-Bali service that is already in action. Other routes are in the final planning stages, ensuring a seamless travel experience for all.

Technological Advancements Enhancing Travel

As Bali aims for another record-breaking year in 2025, it is set to attract 6.5 million international tourists, with the potential to reach 7 million visitors. To accommodate this surge, airport upgrades are underway. Fahmi noted plans for enhanced security measures, including automated tray return systems at security checkpoints, making the airport experience smoother and faster.

Imagine bypassing the long lines—Fahmi explained, “Currently, we can accommodate only 200 people per hour, but with the new technology, we can serve 500 people! Travelers won’t even have to unpack their bags or remove laptops for screening.” This will surely make a difference during busy travel seasons.

Additionally, 90 new autogates have been installed at the international terminals, reducing wait times for e-visa holders and Indonesian passport holders to just 23-30 seconds. This kind of efficiency is what every traveler appreciates!
