Indonesian coffee truly stands among the best in the world. Anyone who has visited a few coffee shops in Indonesia can attest to this—just take my experience during my last trip. I remember stepping into my third café and being blown away by the skill of the baristas. It didn’t take long to realize that every café had something special to offer!
Bali: A Coffee Lover’s Paradise
If you’re a coffee enthusiast, Bali is nothing short of a dream. The island’s coffee culture has now moved to the forefront of tourism, capturing the hearts of visitors like never before.
Introducing Expat Coffee Roasters: Your First Stop at Bali Airport
Exciting news for coffee fans! Expat Coffee Roasters has just launched a new coffee shop right in Bali’s domestic arrivals hall. Imagine this: you’ve just landed and instead of rushing to find transportation, you stroll into one of Bali’s finest coffee roasters—talk about a perfect welcome! Even if you’ve just flown in internationally, it’s just a short walk away.
This sleek 93 square meter coffee shop isn’t just about great coffee; it offers an interactive barista experience, immersing you in Bali’s vibrant coffee culture right from the moment you touch down.
Creating a Unique Coffee Experience
During the launch event, Expat Roasters’ Founder & CEO, Shae MacNamara, shared, “The opening of Brew Bar Expat at Ngurah Rai Airport is an important step for us. It’s not just about serving coffee, but also offering a Balinese welcome to tourists who have just arrived on the island, connecting them with Balinese coffee culture.” The atmosphere in the café is airy, inviting, and stylish, featuring architectural elements that elegantly blend traditional Balinese styles with modern designs.
The Expat Brew Bar at Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport is just the beginning of their expansion, with additional locations at Jalan Petitenget in Seminyak and in Beachwalk Shopping Mall in Kuta, as well as venues in Surabaya and Jakarta.
Taste the Best of Bali’s Coffee
Yande, one of the skilled baristas at the new Bali Airport Expat Brew Bar, shared, “At Ngurah Rai Airport, Expat serves a variety of specialty coffee choices such as Patria, Nomad, and single-origin coffee from Bali’s Kintamani. We even have Cold Brew that’s perfect for tourists on the go.” Since its inception eight years ago, Expat has been dedicated to showcasing local coffee from regions like Bali, Aceh Gayo, Toraja, and West Java.
Coffee Opportunities Await for Every Traveler
For travelers flying internationally, fear not! Bali’s international terminal has some delightful coffee options too. The beloved Canggu and Seminyak café, Revolver, has made its mark in the international departures area, offering not just coffee but a full food menu available around the clock.
Taking Passenger Experience to the Next Level
Changes are afoot at Bali Airport, aiming to enhance the experience for everyone—whether you arrive or depart. Alongside the opening of the Expat Brew Bar, an impressive new pedestrian bridge in the domestic terminal makes traveling safer and more convenient.
For international arrivals, a new taxi pick-up system is in place. Previously chaotic, the arrivals area has transitioned to a safer environment with a dedicated counter for taxi services, helping visitors avoid the confusion of the past.
Ahmad Syaugi Shahab, the General Manager of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, proclaimed, “The plan to create a special counter for land transportation business partners is one of many enhancements we’re discussing.” This initiative is geared towards streamlining services and providing a seamless experience for all arrivals.
Bali is not just an island; it’s a rich tapestry of experiences waiting to be explored. And as you sip on a freshly brewed cup of coffee, you’ll feel the warmth of Balinese culture embracing you.
